Art Curator

Over the years, I have curated a few international acclaimed exhibitions :

  • "Made in Iran" at Asia House - London (2009)

  • "Paradoxe Perpetual" - Musée Guimet (2011)

  • "Lost in paradise" - Espace Sévigné (2012)

  •  "Two Moderns from the Middle East: Reza Derakshani and Alfred Basbous" - Sotheby’s S2 / Honk Kong (2017)

These shows where an example of the here and now and a road map of my career as an advisor. The idea was always to be ahead of the times and to display artists or art scenes that had not been shown in the West (Europe or USA) or simply overlooked. My job as curator is to bring them to light at a timing that is relevant.

This was true in the first shows and is still true today even if the curatorial activity has proven less of a necessity. This is the common thread for all the show and artworks in the selection below.

The role of the art curator is much more than choosing objects to display.
The curator prepares the exhibition locations; he communicates with the
artists and the public; he performs a whole process of cultural mediation.

To compose a collection, it was necessary to select the objects and arrange them, as it happens nowadays in museums and other exhibition places, through the curatorial process.

What is the role of the art curator ?
